One part suggestion-implementation and one-part not being able to stick with one thing for too long, I’m both relieved and pleased to announce the new release schedule format here on Kuriousity!
Manga Release Schedules
Starting with January 2010 you can view the list of releases scheduled for that month and sort the list either by name, creator, publisher or rating. Also instead of posting one month at a time, I’ll now be updating the year’s worth of release lists as the information becomes available. It’s still got a few gaps in the info but it’ll be a continuously updated feature so drop by every now and again and see what new goodies have popped up!
Having spent today compiling these lists, I can definitely say that my paychecks have never been planned so many months ahead. My thanks to those who shared their thoughts regarding the previous incarnation of my release lists and to the creators of the incredibly useful plug-in that saved me hours of time on this format. Enjoy Kuriousity visitors – I hope it proves useful in all your purchase-planning endeavours :)

Halloween month is behind us but with the chilly Autumn weather kicking in full force (or in some places even snow!), there’s still lots of reasons to wrap up in a warm blanket and relax at home – and of course how better than with a big stack of manga?
This month offers up lots of great titles including many of my favourites. Tokyopop offers up the newest volume of Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo, which features Count D wearing some of the cuteness outfits you’ll ever see the ageless shopkeep in, and bookshelves will see the next volume of the cluttered but highly energized Zone-00. A new Hinako Takanaga title, Liberty Liberty, makes up their BLU offering for the month.
Viz Media takes home the many-much-manga prize yet again with tons of amazing new volumes, from Ikigami to Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden, and from Pluto to Kaze Hikaru. Del Rey offers up a healthy assortment this month as well including the next volume of the charming Yokaiden and the first volume of You Higuri’s Night Head Genesis.
Toss in a great assortment of charming manhwa from Yen Press and a new volume of Black Jack from Vertical and you have just some of the awesomeness that is November 2009! What books have dibs on your paychecks this month?

October is here and thus Autumn is officially upon us! And as I’m sure everyone knows, October is also the month of Halloween – but do any of these month’s releases offer some spooky complimenting reads?
Let’s take a brief look – CMX has the second volume of Ballad of A Shinigami out (a series of which I really enjoyed the first book of) and Del Rey has volume fourteen of XXXholic. But of course what about the vampires? Digital Manga offers up the next installment of Vampire Hunter D, Tokyopop the long-awaited-by-its-fans next volume of Vampire Doll and volume fourteen of Chibi Vampire, Viz Media’s Rosario+Vampire and Yen Press’s Cirque Du Freak. Those’re just some of the books ready to be enjoyed on dark, eery night so check them out and have a ghoulishly pleasant October!

It’s September! Students go back to school and everyone says goodbye to the final days of summer as we count down the days to a golden Autumn (though Autumn seems to have hit us early here in Nova Scotia this year!). Lots of goodies out this month, highlights being Yen Press’s complete rerelease of Yotsuba&! and a whole bunch of volume one’s from several different publishers.

With con season well under way, it’s easy to get caught up thinking about all those fantastic series on their way to us in the future. But though the future is full of shiny things, we mustn’t forget the present and fortunately there’s plenty of great stuff coming up in August to keep our reading minds on the now :)

Is it just me or did June fly by really fast? Ah well, another month by means another month closer to more manga titles! Come on, we all know that’s how it works, right?
Lots of goodies coming out in July, including the next volume of Osamu Tezuka’s medical marvel, Black Jack, the much anticipated next volume of Naoki Urusawa’s Pluto and the thirteenth volume of Oh!Great’s energetically-paced Air Gear. Throw in the next volume of Tsubasa, a second volume of the hilariously cute Train*Train and the sequel one-shot, Mr. Flower Groom, and I’d say we’re in for a great month! And hopefully one that sees lots of fun licensing announcements at the upcoming Anime Expo and San Diego Comic Con as well. Check out the full list of titles under the cut.

After recieving a few e-mails from readers about my releases lists, still some of the bigger draws of my site it seems, I’ve made some changes to the format :) Now for your convenience each book is seperated by publisher instead of being listed alphabetically (with shiny banners just ’cause!). I’ll also be updating this list with links to reviews for the books posted here on Kuriousity as they’re posted.
Also, as you may have noticed, this book list is for June 2009’s manga releases. Where as I was going to post these monthly release lists a month in advance (example: this should be July by that system), a reader brought up the concern that this was too far in advance and knowing what’s coming out right now is more useful, which makes sense of course. So, what do people think? Post these lists at the beginning of the month or return to the month-in-advance formula?
Either way, enjoy this month’s releases! Tons of goodies coming your way with Viz leading the pack yet again. And is that another volume of Nightmare Inspector I see? Didn’t I just buy that? Viz is great for giving me that feeling quite often it seems.

Five months after I say these release lists will be monthly occurences and suddenly ‘poof’, nothing. Sorry to those who’ve been coming back and looking for them. Your e-mails have not fallen on blind eyes and Kuriousity’s monthly release lists are back! Collecting the release titles in a month can be time-consuming but it’s still something I hope to keep up with that I’ve got myself a much easier system, aka, no author names which saves an amazing amount of time on typing and formatting.
So that said, mark May 2009 as an awesome start to a manga-filled summer and check out of the titles you can look forward to seeing on your bookstore shelves in the next month :)

Since the September release list has become such a popular post, looks like it’ll be a continued site addition. Glad so many of you have found it useful! So below the cut you can see the release list for October 2008. As before the list is in alphabetical order, and includes publisher’s logo, volumes and creator(s).
Note: Not all books listed here are guaranteed to be released in this month. Inparticular, certain Tokyopop and affiliated BLU titles may have been postponed.
